Life in Hong Kong for a Toddler

Well, what can I say (not much really at the moment, just a lot of gibberish!). My mummy and daddy have dragged me along to Hong Kong from my comfy abode in Melbourne! Left all my lifelong friends (goodbye mother's group), my favourite swing from the Rockley Road park (goodbye green grass and fresh air), mummy's melbourne coffee (hello starbucks), those lovely long walks with wide pram friendly footpaths (goodbye bugaboo), my carseat (goodbye safety standards) and of course that lovely cool weather (hello hong kong humidity)!

We live in the Mid-Levels district in Hong Kong. It's easy to get to Central, we just catch the moving escalators down - sure is a very long series of escalators! And when they aren't working or going the other way, the steps are steep and very plentiful! We're living in a huge block of apartments - two towers with each tower having 47 levels and 6 apartments on each of these levels! I can't quite do maths yet, but I can tell you that's a lot of apartments! Our apartment is very small - 1376 sq feet to be exact (more feet if they are my feet ;)). But we have a fabulous view of the sea and lots of city lights that do light shows at night.

This is me at playgroup:

This is me in our apartment playground (notice no grass!):

At the beach (yes, HK has beaches!)

Honkers is very different to Oz... not necessarily in a bad way of course!

Food here is different. Chicken tastes even better than the corn fed/organic/music played (ok getting a bit carried away here) chickens from back home. Same with potatoes - they're yellower and creamier here! Also when you goto those upmarket supermarkets like Great Eats in Pacific Place, you can get a whole variety of produce from different countries that you normally wouldn't get in the strict importing law abiding Oz. Although Oz meat/fruit/veg is plentiful here - and maybe a lot better quality than home - as did you know Oz imports their very best produce and they keep the mediocre quality for the locals?!
